You had a positive pregnancy test and a RUSH of emotions. I know from personal experience that you can feel happy, sad, or terrified. Usually it’s a mixture of all of these feelings at the same time! You know that your life will never, ever be the same because you will be totally and fully responsible for another human being. With your hormones in flux, the months leading up to the birth of your child can be an amazing time or it can be a difficult time.
I have given birth to four children and experienced one miscarriage, and I have also experienced these same feelings. I had the same concerns as every other mother-to-be out there and have learned some coping skills along the way. I want to share what I have learned with other women, to make it easier for them. I know that it’s comforting to know what you are experiencing is not unique. It’s invaluable to have someone’s support on this journey.
The most important thing for you to know is that you are in control of this experience.
During these nine months your body, mind, and relationships are going through a huge amount of change. Hopefully, it’s a positive experience. But unfortunately, it can also be a time when you can also have many doubts and growing fears as you progress through pregnancy. You worry about yourself, you worry about the baby, you worry about everyone! More often than not most women take birth preparation classes, attempt to eat healthy, stop smoking, or eliminate any behavior that could affect your unborn child.
It’s very important to care for your body during this time, but it’s also extremely important to prepare your mind and how you view the progress of your pregnancy. Stress and emotional conflict have a direct effect on your health and the health of your child, now and for the rest of his or her life.
Dr. Elysia Davis and her colleagues at the University of Denver have spent years studying the effect of pregnant women’s stress reactions on the fetus.
When they studied the cortisol levels of expecting mothers who had consistently higher than normal levels (caused by stress) early in pregnancy, Davis and her colleagues made a startling discovery: The infants displayed a much higher sensitivity to stress than other babies. As these babies grew from infancy to toddlerhood, they exhibited heightened levels of anxiousness compared to other children.
Your baby feels what you feel during pregnancy!
Therefore, your mindset about pregnancy is a key part of this whole process. The benefits of keeping a positive attitude during pregnancy are so important. By keeping stress to a minimum and maintaining a positive attitude, you will have a direct impact on your unborn child for the rest of their life.
I’m sure your asking yourself how and what can you do to reduce stress and keep a positive outlook during this time of enormous change. This is where Paint the Way and Intentional CreativityTM comes in.
We will explore and shift your mindset…
We will explore your current stories regarding fears of pregnancy, labor & delivery, and motherhood using paint and creativity. The amazing thing with this method is that it gives you an effective tool to explore how you feel about these topics, transform how you feel on the canvas and in your life while creating a new story and gives you peace of mind.
We will use the power of introspection to access your internal thoughts and feelings and create new images, shapes, and colors and will incorporate them into your artwork.
This method allows you communicate with yourself. A woman who communicates with herself is confident, powerful, and unstoppable!
I will help you to access you own internal wisdom about being a mother.
The ability to “mother” is within your mind, your heart, and programmed into your DNA. You just need the right tools to access this information.
Not only will you be doing powerful work, it will be fun and supportive!
